and now what are you thinking of…

the last image in the game reminded sallyjo of the flaky layers of a croissant, or perhaps a sandy canyon wall. Twig was reminded of a wedding veil, and sally jo mentioned that she could see that completely. Apparently Utah weddings are lacking in the plastic arena.

In any case, I went for the croissant. Not as easy as one might think, i should have gone for the wedding veil as those are really a dime a dozen around here.

Das vorheriges Bild im Spiel errinnerte sallyjo an ein Croissant, oder vielleicht die sandige Waender einer Felsschlucht. Twig wurde an einen Brautschleier errinnert - offentsichtlich fehlen der Hochzeiten in Utah an Kunststoff.

Egal, ich entschiede mich ein Hoernchen zu finden, was gar nicht so einfach war - ich haette mich vielleicht doch auf den Brautschleier entschieden, die sind in Utah wie Sand am Meer zu finden.

i’m interested in a game: a game of association. my idea is to post a photo and then ask you to tell me something it reminds you of. then my task is to take a photo of the thing of which you were reminded. For example, i post this picture:

Ich moechte spielen: Ein Spiel der Zusammenhang. Meine Idee ist ein Foto zu posten und dann jemand schreibt an was das Foto macht ihn/sie denken. Dann muss ich ein Foto von dem machen, an den derjenigen errinnert wurde. Klar? Zum Beispiel, ich poste das Foto hier:

and someone posts that it reminds them of cooking, so i go home and take this photo:

und jemand schreibt, es errinnert sie an das Kochen, also gehe ich nach Hause und mache dieses Bild:

Which would then possibly make someone thing of eggs or fire, or what have you. Make sense? Anyone interested? The limitations would be that if the respose i get is outside of the realm of possibilities for me to complete in a timely manner (say it reminds you of the ocean and i don’t see myself there before May), i can use artistic license.

Dann errinnert das Foto noch jemand an Eiern oder Feuer oder so was. Klar? Hat jemand interesse? Eine Einschraenkung ist falls die Beantwortung die ich bekomme ausser der realistischen Moeglichkeiten fuer mich ist (sag mal ich hoere ‘es errinnert mich ans Meer’ und ich erst im Mai ans Meer komme), dass ich kuenstlerische Freiheit nehmen darf.

i loved the idea of a gradient sweater. So much, i’ve made two.

Die Idee eines Pullis mit Farbverlauf hat mich sehr interessiert. Ich habe sogar zwei gestrickt.

Yesterday i received notification that one of the images i submitted for an exhibition was accepted. Of course, it is the image i only submitted at the last moment as a ‘why-the-hell-not’.

Gestern erhielt ich die Nechricht dass eins der Bilder die ich fuer eine Ausstellung eingereicht habe akzeptiert wurde. Natuerlich ist das Bild das angenommen wurde das, dass ich nur so vorgelegen habe.

This image, taken for my parents, did not get in. This was the dance hall where my parents met and has a local significance. You never know what a judge might like and i like the image enough to think it might be a good match for the gallery.

Dieses Bild, fotografiert meiner Eltern entwegen, war nicht akzeptiert. Das Lokal ist die ‘Diskotheke’, bei der meine Eltern sich kennengelernt haben. Man weisst nicht was dem Preisrichter/der Preisrichterin gefaellt, aber ich mag das Foto einigermassen und dachte es passe der Galerie ziemlich gut.

This image i love. I’ve printed it on a matte, warm tone paper and it just looks like rich, brown velvet to me. The judge, however, did not agree.

Dieses Bild gefaellt mir sehr. Ich habe es auf ein mattgestrichenes Papier gedrueckt und es ist mir wie warmer brauner Samt. Der Preisrichter stimmt mir nicht zu.

And this image was accepted. While i like the lines in the image, i think it would benefit from a reshoot to perhaps focus on the bubble in the glass’ base rather than the edge of the glass.

Und dieses Bild wurde akzeptiert. Obwohl ich die Linie des Bilds mag, ich meine es wuerde von einem Widerfotografieren profitieren um die Blase im Fuss des Glases statt den Rand des Glases scharfzustellen.

oh well! the opening should be fun!

Na ja! Die Eroeffnung sollte Spass machen!
