apad - fall leaves week
Wednesday, October 18th, 2006video is on its way (got home at about 10 pm, so no real work on it tonight). It may be late, i am going to go see a lecture from jerry spagnoli after work tomorrow!
guilty as charged
Tuesday, October 17th, 2006typically, i do not alter the images i post here. Occasionally, i will adjust for tungsten lights or insufficient light, but usually what you see is what i saw - or, better said, what you see is what my camera saw.
Monday, however, what my camera saw was nowhere near what i saw. Carey, Helena and Thuy commented on it. I’m not sure if it was guilt - after all, i have no problems with exposing a frame in the darkroom longer or adjusting the contrast if i feel it necessary - but i wanted to explain what i did.
I used adjustment layers in photoshop (CS2). I adjusted the white point, which is a common correction, but i also added additional layer adjustments with the multiply blend mode. This built the colors of the washed-out areas up. Really, that was all. But i love adjustment layers and the opportunities they afford one, so i am creating a little video about what i did and how. Of course, since i am taking a final cut pro class right now, i am making this way more difficult than it needs to be, but i should have it up tomorrow or thursday evening. If you are really bored, maybe you will check it out.
